Let It Go by James Bay Interpretation

Today I would like to interpret to you a beautiful song called "Let It Go" by James Bay.

[Verse 1]
From walking home and talking loads
To seeing shows in evening clothes with you
From nervous touch and getting drunk
To staying up and waking up with you

Here, James talks about the start of their relationship. It is the infatuation stage in which everything is going well.

[Pre-Chorus 1]
Now we're sleeping near the edge
Holding something we don't need
Oh, this delusion in our heads is gonna bring us to our knees

On this Pre-Chorus, James talks about the problems that their relationship now have.

[Chorus]
So come on, let it go
Just let it be
Why don't you be you, and I'll be me?

Everything that's broke
Leave it to the breeze

Why don't you be you, and I'll be me?
And I'll be me

On this Chorus, James is asking the girl to let go of their relationship

[Verse 2]
From throwing clothes across the floor
To teeth and claws and slamming doors at you
If this is all we're living for
Why are we doing it, doing it, doing it anymore?

James explains that they started the relationship happy. Now, all they do is fight and he thinks that it is unhealthy to be in the relationship anymore.

[Pre-Chorus 2]
I used to recognize myself
It's funny how reflections change
When we're becoming something else
I think it's time to walk away

James is saying that he can't recognize himself anymore. He is saying that this changed makes him incompatible with the relationship.

[Bridge]
Tryna fit your hand inside of mine
When we know it just don't belong
Cause no force on earth could make it feel right, no no

Tryna push this problem up the hill
When it's just too heavy to hold
I think now's the time to let it slide

He is saying that it is irrational to keep the relationship going.
