8 Ways To Do Well In School

I thought that I was the most intelligent person in the world. That was until I entered my first stage of school (nursery) that I began to doubt my self. It was not because I changed as a person. It was still me. However, it was as if something is missing. That was when I realized what it was: technique. Nothing in this life will come easy or effortlessly. You have to accept that there is always a technique that you have to discover.

Today, I would like to share with you the technique on how to do well in school.

Number 1: Be yourself. Although this is a technique, changing your self is not required. Simply be who you are. Be comfortable with being you.

Number 2: Always have a to-do-list. We are humans. We are not USBs. Sometimes, we forget. Most likely, forgetting something in school can be catastrophic on your grades.

Number 3: Do your homework, projects, etc. Not only will your skills improve, you'll also be rewarded with more grades. Also, most schools put a lot of weight on homework in terms of grades. The more you do your homework, the less likely that you will fail.

Number 4: Study. Studying is not limited to listening to your teacher and jotting down notes. On the tests that most teachers give (I speak on experience), there are lessons that were never discussed. On this note, we can assume that it is expected from students to go out of their way and learn the subject from as much resources as possible outside the classroom. This includes your textbook for the class, Wikipedia, other textbooks (you can check your school library for this), and more. More studying equates to better chances of acing your tests and do well in school!

Number 5: Recitation. Don't underestimate the incentives of reciting. This can also contribute on your grades, deportment, and recommendation letters (not to mention, resumes!).

Number 6: Extra-curricular activities. Some schools reward extra points on your grades when you join extra-curricular activities.

Number 7: Be on your best behavior, all the time. Some schools include deportment grades on report cards. Needless to say, your behavior is proportional to your deportment grades. Plus, you'll also have good recommendation letters and resume.

Number 8: Excel! Imagine school as a simulation of real life. How would you like to be remembered? How can you show that you are excelling? Catch the attention of the school community. And better, even outside the school community. Also, this can add to your grades (especially if done through extra-curricular activities), recommendation letters, and resume (which all contribute to a happy and successful life).

This is my interpretation of the song H.O.L.Y. by Florida Georgia Line.

[Verse 1]

This girl is the silver lining of his life.

[Pre-Chorus]

He believes that this girl is a person of exemplary conduct or virtue.

[Chorus]

In addition to the pre-chorus, he thinks that this girl is sacred. Being in love has an effect of giving a person a "high," which is obviously what he is feeling right now with this girl.

[Verse 2]

Cleanse all the demons
That were killing my freedom
Let me lay you down, give me to ya
Get you singing babe, hallelujah

She made his "brightest days from the darkest nights" which is exemplary saving grace, don't you think? Being baptized is the first step to being saved and he is saying that this girl saved him from something bad, which only reiterates the first line.

Like fire in my veins, you're my ecstasy, you're my ecstasy

Stars are guidance for some people. He says that he doesn't need any other guidance except from what is from her. Also, she is his happiness.

[Outro]

She healed him.

I Took A Pill In Ibiza By Mike Posner Interpretation

This article is about my interpretation of the song "I Took A Pill In Ibiza" by Mike Posner.

[Verse 1]
I took a pill in Ibiza
To show Avicii I was cool
And when I finally got sober, felt 10 years older
But fuck it, it was something to do
I'm living out in LA
I drive a sports car just to prove
I'm a real big baller cause I made a million dollars
And I spend it on girls and shoes

Mike Posner is simply saying that he took a pill in Ibiza. This creates the atmosphere of the song, which is about young people taking drugs because of the influence of their social life in which they have a lot of friends.

He explains that when he got sober, he felt so tired like he is already 10 years older; which is a typical effect of drugs. He vindicates this idea by saying it's "something to do."

Furthermore, he lives in LA, which is a prestigious place. Plus, he drives a sports car and the like, objectifying the elite life.
[Chorus]
But you don't wanna be high like me
Never really knowing why like me
You don't ever wanna step off that roller coaster
And be all alone
You don't wanna ride the bus like this
Never knowing who to trust like this
You don't wanna be stuck up on that stage singing

Despite his "satisfaction" with his lifestyle, he warns listeners that you don't want to idolize it. This whole chorus is basically an explanation of the effects of drugs.

Cause my name's a reminder of a pop song people forgot
And I can't keep a girl, no
Cause as soon as the sun comes up
I cut 'em all loose and work's my excuse
But the truth is I can't open up

He thinks that he is a singer who already blew his shot; which implies a lost of confidence in himself. On the second and third line he explains that he is still somewhat popular.

[Verse 3]
I took a plane to my home town
I brought my pride and my guitar
All my friends are all gone but there's manicured lawns
And the people still think I'm a star
I walked around downtown
I met some fans on Lafayette
They said tell us how to make it cause we're getting real impatient
So I looked 'em in the eye and said

Like other popular people, he went back home (Detroit, Michigan), with his pride and guitar. His friends are no longer there, although there are perfect lawns. Fortunately, people still think he's a star there. There, he found people who wants to be exactly like him.

Just Like Fire By P!nk Interpretation

Today I would like to interpret "Just Like Fire" by P!nk.

[Verse 1]
I know that I am runnin' out of time

And I'm wishin' they'd stop tryin' to turn me off

And I'm walkin' on a wire, tryin' to go higher
Feels like I'm surrounded by clowns and liars
Even when I give it all away

P!nk is for some reason is running out of time. Although she wants it all, there are people hindering her from achieving her dream. By "walking on a wire" while "trying to go higher," what she is trying convey is the massive difficulty of her situation. Even on those times that she gives it all away, she still wants it all.

[Pre-Chorus]
We came here to run it, run it, run it
We came here to run it, run it, run it

In reference to the first verse where she wants to have it all, besides that, she also wants to rule everything.

[Chorus]
Just like fire, burnin' up the way
If I could light the world up for just one day
Watch this madness, colorful charade

I'mma disappear when they come for me
I kick that ceiling, what you gonna say?

Lighting up the world means doing something exceedingly amazing. She is
implying that she is going to do that.

[Verse 2]
And people like to laugh at you cause they are all the same, mmm, mmm
See I would rather we just go a different way than play the game
And no matter the weather, we can do it better
You and me together, forever and ever
We don't have to worry 'bout a thing, 'bout a thing

P!nk believes that one of the reasons why people laugh at you is because you are more amazing than them. Rather than settling for less, which she refers to as just like playing "the game," she wants to be the best. As long as she and her lover are together, they will always be the best; plus, they are going to be together forever and ever. That is why they don't have to be worried about anything.

[Verse 3]

Just cause nobody's done it
Y'all don't think I can run it

Impossible? Please

She wants to have it all and rule everything simply because nobody has done it before. Nobody trusts that she will accomplish this. However, it seems like she has already done it. People say that what she has done is impossible. She disagrees while saying that it is possible, "you just gotta believe."

Ride By twenty one pilots Interpretation

Today I would like to interpret to you one of my favorite songs, "Ride" by twenty one pilots.

[Verse 1: Tyler Joseph]
I just wanna stay in the sun where I find
I know it's hard sometimes
Pieces of peace in the sun's peace of mind
I know it's hard sometimes
Yeah I think about the end just way too much
But it's fun to fantasize
On my enemies I wouldn't wish who I was
But it's fun to fantasize

Tyler doesn't want to suffer. Also, he thinks of death too much. He is being hurt to much that the he doesn't even want this hurt to be felt by his enemies. However, it doesn't hurt to fantasize about that.

[Chorus: Tyler Joseph]
Oh Oh Ohhh Oh Oh Ohhh I'm falling so I'm taking my time on my ride Oh Oh Ohhh
I'm falling so I'm taking my time on my ride
Taking my time on my ride

"Falling" refers to negative thoughts like doubts. And, ride refers to life.

[Verse 2: Tyler Joseph]
"I'd die for you," that's easy to say
We have a list of people that we would take
A bullet for them, a bullet for you
A bullet for everybody in this room
But I don't seem to see many bullets coming through
See many bullets coming through
Metaphorically I'm the man
But literally I don't know what I'd do
"I'd live for you," and that's hard to do
Even harder to say when you know it's not true
Even harder to write when you know that tonight
There were people back home who tried talking to you
But then you ignore them still
All these questions they’re for real
Like who would you live for? Who would you die for?
And would you ever kill?

For Tyler, it is easy to die for someone; however, actually finding someone to live for is the hard part of life. Also, he has a list of people to whom he would die for which includes his fans. Since it is improbable for him to have a chance to literally "take a bullet" for someone, he prefers to live for someone instead.

Saying "I'd live for you" is hard when you are lying. Sometimes, when we are too busy in our life, we, with eyes closed,  we ignore the people we love, just because. The questions that Tyler talks about are the philosophical questions humans have. Rather than treating them as unimportant, he regards them as otherwise. One of these questions include asking your self who you would live and die for. Both living and dying for someone is like a religious expression like Christianity. In  the last line, he's asking the audience whether they would give up or not.
